Hi, I’m Monica. Things You’ll Love is where I share what I’m collecting: books, music, recipes, slow rituals, and small wonders. Think of it as my kitchen table. You’re always welcome here.
I got to sit down with Jill Clifton again, our second time doing this, and it felt like picking up a conversation we never really put down.
I was still coming off being properly sick last week. Sick enough that I rescheduled a public event, which is not a thing I do easily. But rather than seeing it as failure, I saw it as care.
In this conversation, we got into what care actually feels like, and the difference between breadcrumbs and what Jill called “gourmet croutons.”
Jill’s got a free workshop running right now called Orienting to the Inner Mother, more on that below.
Show Notes
Little things that don’t fit as to-do lists: pool afternoons, garden tomatoes, warm blueberries pulled straight off the vine
Permission as self-care: rescheduling a public event while sick, and learning that’s care.
Breadcrumbs vs. gourmet croutons: the difference between scraping by on self-care and giving yourself something small but genuinely nourishing
The inner mother: Jill’s workshop work on who takes care of the needs the inner child holds, and why most of us are under-resourced for it
The socks story: Monica’s memory of a friend putting socks on her feet while she was sick, and what that moment taught her about the feeling of being cared for
Jill’s free workshop: Orienting to the Inner Mother, running two more times (Fri the 14th and Thu the 20th) at landscapeofmothers.com
Thank you, Jill, for coming back and doing this with me again! I love these conversations more every time.
If Jill’s workshop caught your attention, you can find Orienting to the Inner Mother at landscapeofmothers.com.
It’s free, and there are two more sessions coming up.
