Hello again!
I’m so glad you’re all here with me.
Without further ado, here are some Things I’m Loving. 😊
Something for play
Dixit’s been on my list of things to share with you all for ages… I wish I could remember where/how I learned about it, but it’s been too long!
Dixit is like a board game, image-only version of Apples to Apples, with some twists.
Each player receives a set of cards that are images and the game is off! One of the things that I love about Dixit is that it’s easily adaptable.
Although it calls for three players, my sister and I tweaked it and played it together when it first arrived. Since then, I’ve played it with cousins, families, children, adults, and all ages in between.
The imagery of the cards is just stunning, and there’s a slew of expansion packs you can get.
What board games do you like playing?
Something to read
If you’re looking for something that’s analytical + conversational, smart + pop cultural, then you must check out Anne Helen Petersen’s substack.
Her newsletters are long and substantial. When I see them in my inbox, I set aside 15-20 minutes to read them and pretend like I’m in college again, diving into exciting theories and ideas.
One of her latest issues was on the history of the exclamation point, especially women’s use of it in written conversation. If you enjoy deep (but also surprisingly specific and detailed) conversations, don’t miss it.
Something to listen to
I’m not sure who or where I first saw the Gaia Music Collective, but I knew I was hooked from the first moment.
This musical experience brings together singers of all ages, skillsets, and backgrounds, for a three-hour rehearsal before they sing their piece.
My favorite of theirs is a choral version of Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car (another favorite of mine).
Watching them brings me such deep joy, and I can’t help but smile when I see them across my feed.
Something to cook
I love Thai food, and so when I saw this recipe, shared by my friend Mel, on Facebook, I knew I had to save it.
This Thai Shrimp Soup looks easy and quick, and so it’s on the docket for the next rainy day! I keep curry pastes and coconut milk in my pantry, but if you don’t, they should be fairly find-able at your local Asian grocery, or even a regular grocery, but in a small specialty section.
Next on my list after this? To find a delicious Tom Yum soup that I can make at home.
Do you have a favorite recipe for a takeout meal you like? Please share in the comments!! I’m always looking for new recipes. 😊
Something to learn:
Sara Mastros’s book, The Sorcery of Solomon dropped just this past week (see my picture above taken by me with my new copy). If you’re interested in witchcraft (especially the craft aspect of that), she is one of the best that’s out there.
If Solomon and his pentacles are your jam, she has a companion course you can check out, as well as numerous other courses. I’ve taken several of them, and Solomon’s probably my favorite of the ones I’ve been in.
If you live in the Northern Hemisphere and it’s currently winter, try to stay warm!
And if you’re enjoying summer right now, soak up some sun for me. 😊
